1st Training Module New Security Strategies In The Western Mediterranean

Within the framework of the military cooperation activities within the «5+5 Defense» initiative for 2015, the 1st training module of the 6th cycle to the superior level of «5+5 Defense» under the theme « New Security Strategies in the Western Mediterranean ».

This module organized by the War High College under the ultimate supervision of Mister Lieutenant General, Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Vice Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, included the participation of the representatives of the member countries initiative namely: Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Italy, France, Spain Portugal and Malta.

On this occasion and on behalf of Mister the Lieutenant General, Vice Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, Mister Major General Noureddine KHALOUI the War High College Director asserted in his speech pronounced the importance of the subject and the purpose of this module.

"The organization of this module in Algeria highlights the value of the efforts made for the benefit of the "5+5 Defense" Initiative in order to deal with the security issues of the Western Basin of the Mediterranean sea, as demonstrated by the Algerian participation to the joint work to secure peace and stability of the region".

"The subject of this module having as input the new security strategies in the Western Basin of the Mediterranean sea, confronts us with the question of the threats prevailing in our common space and which are in permanent mutation and evolution", he says.

In this context, many conferences and interventions dealt with the subject to develop a common knowledge on issues to do with security challenges in the Western Basin of the Mediterranean Sea, and workshops will be held in this framework as well.

Furthermore, this event is an opportunity for the participants, representatives of the Initiative's countries, to consolidate the collective reflection and the experiences, know-how and expertise exchange.
